Pixiecraft is Katy Fisher — a freelance artist and nature lover based in Manchester who taught herself to embroider in 2011, found herself limited by the designs available, and started making her own. By 2012 Pixiecraft was a proper business, selling intricate embroidery artwork and miniature wearable pieces that earned a following through their specificity and warmth. In 2024, after more than a decade of needlework, the brand evolved into the illustration-led creative world it is today — and if that trajectory sounds unusual, it is worth knowing that the change of direction was partly practical, partly a deepening of the same creative impulse that started the whole thing. Katy's two daughters, reliably referred to as the Little Pixies, help pack the orders. The family is very much the operation.

The range now covers nature-inspired art prints — kingfishers, grey herons, wood pigeons, mallard ducks, long-tailed tits, all painted in gouache and printed on 230gsm archival paper — alongside holographic bookmarks, enamel pin badges and magnets, hand-drawn colouring books for adults and children, greeting cards for every occasion the greeting card industry has thought to address and several it has not, vinyl stickers, and a pigeon zine. The pigeon zine. Pixiecraft is the kind of brand where a pigeon zine exists and makes complete sense in context. The humour is dry, the illustration work is genuinely skilled, the prices are entirely reasonable, and the whole thing is run by someone who also teaches art workshops across the North West and takes custom orders with considerable enthusiasm.
