ScandiBugs began as an independent UK retailer of Scandinavian children's clothing from a family home in Leeds — a carefully curated selection of bold, bright, ethically made pieces from brands the founders had tried, tested and loved on their own children. The ScandiBugs Basics range is their own label: a collection of organic cotton vests, tops, leggings, yoga pants, dungarees and reversible hoodies in nine eye-popping block colours designed to work as wardrobe foundations — the pieces that layer under prints, mix with anything, and survive both playgrounds and washing machines without fading into something disappointing. The ethos behind the brand is Scandinavian in more than just aesthetic: children should be allowed to dress like children and play like children, which is a more radical position than it sounds in a market full of miniaturised adult clothing.

The fabrics are 95% GOTS-certified organic cotton with 5% elastane for comfort and durability — naturally hypoallergenic and breathable, which matters particularly for eczema-prone skin. The partner factory runs on onsite solar power. The ScandiBugs own-label range covers ages 1 to 10, sized generously enough to last, with colours vibrant enough to still look intentional after a year of enthusiastic use. These are the pieces that actually get worn — pulled on at 7am without argument, returned to the wash at 7pm in a state that suggests a full day well spent.
